England's Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Unsure on Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's most recent Test for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is currently evaluating the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes series in Australia.
The former Kiwi pace bowler is only likely to be present for the opening match because of his involvement in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the United Arab Emirates.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a position as England's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for the Kiwis.
Commenting as the English team for the opening of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he said of his participation: "We're still working through the situation at the moment.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
English bowling legend Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"The team's attention is firmly on what we're trying to do. In my opinion the quality of [England's] team that's going out to the host country is brilliant.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, that series. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I believe the whole cricket world is."
However, before England travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
