Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were patients.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations follow what investigators called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the forty-five charges include:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
