Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' 10-game winning run was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international break, but will the English top division leaders bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still manage to win."

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Football and Family Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his spouse his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I won't force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their weekend soccer side," he added.

"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is already more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are well organised and their sole home losses so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.

It smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole away victory this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with the Cherries, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.

A family member told me to get Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always strong at home. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think Fabian Hurzeler's team carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a massive game for Fulham, who have lost five of their past six matches.

Fulham have got lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be sucked into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's display in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the visitors here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering the home side's home record, the only side they have lost to is Arsenal. Their manager's team will be extremely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor streak... but they have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who benefit from the {international break|
