Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The latest Far Cry instalment that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released during October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing chaos and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting gripping, socially charged tales. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two creators whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' style by featuring a different backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series via their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is fresh, engrossing, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team always encourages me with their steady belief and backing.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every instalment is a take of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can shift from season to season, while always exploring the nature of people through this multifaceted and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our common unconventional, daring style to the television.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
