Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the championship lead from Piastri by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, rotating twice through the high-speed corner before the final bend on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second behind Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
