Across the fiercely cutthroat world of interactive entertainment, it's typical for new contenders to vanish as rapidly as they burst on to the scene.
But Battlefield 6 is hoping to alter that.
Here comes the newest release in a long-standing combat FPS series often framed as a grittier response to the CoD series.
This game has seldom succeeded to rival its most famous rival in terms of sales or gamers, but indicators suggest the recent entry could close the gap.
An early access event giving players a chance to test the release in recent months set new benchmarks, and the buzz heading into its debut has been immense.
But the endeavor is nonetheless a major venture for publisher the gaming giant, which has according to sources invested huge sums of dollars developing it.
Reporters have talked to some of the creators to discover how they hope it will be profitable.
Production Group and Developer Partnership
A total of four development houses are developing the title under the Battlefield Studios initiative.
They include original series developer the Swedish studio, based in Scandinavia, California's Motive Studios and Ripple Effect Studios in Canada.
The fourth, Criterion, is based in the UK.

The new release arrives after the heels of the futuristic Battlefield 2042, published four years ago to a unfavorable feedback it had difficulty to recover from.

The Guildford team design director Fasahat "Fas" Salim is the one tasked with "ensuring those missions are as entertaining and engaging as possible for the gamers."
Regardless of allegations that the size of the project had created pressure for the multiple studios working together across continents to develop the title, he is optimistic about the endeavor.
"Collaborating with diverse perspectives, distinct heritages, it's a very fascinating environment to be part of on a regular basis," he explains.
"This whole strategy has been an innovation but also very exciting because we are working with team members from all over the world."
Regarding the pressure on the developers, he states: "We feel pressure but additionally it's thrilling.
"We're dealing with a large venture. It's likely the most significant that many of us have ever participated in."
Emerging Developer Contributes Fresh Insight
That's absolutely true of at least a single developer, lighting artist Vlad.
The recent hire produces the visual ambiance that shape the tone, tone, and focus of the story mode.
The artist undertook an internship at Criterion prior to securing a job with them, and currently operates part-time while completing his digital arts degree at Bournemouth University.
Vlad explains he's a dedicated fan of the Battlefield series, and remembers enjoying the earlier title of the franchise at a friend's house when he was in his youth.
To be on it at present, as his first industry job, "doesn't feel real."
"It's very incredible witnessing the advertising in many places," he says.
"To know that I have contributed my own thing into the game is very surreal."
