Nigel Farage Accuses Teachers of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Race Issues

Nigel Farage has asserted that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

At a gathering for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They instruct children to be ashamed of their country. They are telling an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”

In response to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and currently, similar to other figures, he is targeting educators and their unions for a fight,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

The party, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. Moreover, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Honoring a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.

At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. The college furnishes these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
