The former Liverpool manager states rejoining to coach Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, remarked that returning someday remains something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title for three decades, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor for the DFL.
Supporters’ Hopes and His Frank Comments
The club claimed the league title under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the notion that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he shared with Steven Bartlett: “I said I won't manage a different club within the country. Therefore in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”
“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine later on, who knows. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Luckily, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe what lies ahead.”
Conditions for a Comeback
Pressed on the specific conditions must arise to draw him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn for a comeback. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for media briefings repeatedly each week or doing numerous chats each week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area as a dressing room, but sitting in a restaurant with the team talking freely, is pleasant. With many victories meaning regularly a very good mood around the place. I can still hear Van Dijk's laughter vividly recalled to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
Klopp was full of praise for his successor, praising him due to the changes which secured the championship in the previous season. Liverpool have lost four in a row in every contest following significant transfers, though he denied the idea that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. It’s a really good well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they will be fine.”
Heartfelt Words for the Late Forward
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Jota, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences on Liverpool. The Portugal international died tragically in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the squad without him in it. I still cannot speak properly regarding this. It was an incredible shock for the entire squad also. Not a single person would cite it as an excuse though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Handling this on a personal level is challenging. Overwhelming.”
